Our web site is updated almost daily to present you with a full description of what we do and to provide a valuable resource to those seeking to understand the Stuart period and civil war battles. There are galleries for you to look through too. I hope you will find useful information on all of the pages
The emphasis of our site is on stimulating interest in our period. We hope you will find this website interesting. Because the information is so frequently updated, please check out this site frequently. If you are writing a history project about our period, you will find many resources already on the history pages. We have examples of prices people paid for food and other goods, and the coins they paid for them with. There is even a full diary copied out from two years of the civil war, written by a Royalist trooper. We have descriptions of some of the battles that took place and also some poetry from the period. There are lots more being prepared of course, and you can make suggestions about what you would like to be included on our 'Ideas Board' too. Good information is already provided elsewhere on the web so there are hyperlinks to them on the 'Links' page too.
The English Civil War runs from the first civil war battle in 1642 to the death of Charles the first in 1649. There were many events running up to the wars including the Bishop's War, but Lord Molyneux's regiment was raised specifically in response to the King's call to arms when he raised his standard in Nottingham. Molyneuxs are a company of the Queen's Lifeguard Regiment and, the Queen being the daughter of the King of France, we have a strong Roman Catholic idiom. This does not mean that all members of the regiment are Roman Catholic but it does mean that we sympathise with the bigotry towards English Roman catholics at the time of the civil war. Many English Civil War battles were fought by Roman Catholics who were fighting for religious tolerance.
By looking through the following pages, you will see the association with the Queen's Life Guard, and will see that we have a lot of fun meeting and re-enacting the English Civil War period. We have keen historians, children and people just wanting to have fun but all this stems from our love of the Great English Civil War when the kingdom was split, even within families, into warring factions. The Molyneux family however were wholly royalist and suffered considerably for this commitment.

Molyneux company of the Queen's Lifeguard was established in 2000 and has been providing outstanding seventeenth century events ever since. We are the biggest pike company in the King's Tercio, but our specialty is in recreating actual seventeenth century scenarios from major battles to small crafts. Our audiences particularly value the way we engage them in our events. Our Regiment and company are located in Sheffield, but we have members throughout South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Wales.
