Molyneuxs and friends at Croxteth in July 2006Our web site is updated almost daily to present you with a full description of what we do and to provide a valuable resource to those seeking to understand the Stuart period and civil war battles. There are galleries for you to look through and also a Members Only pics page to look at if you are a member of Molyneux's only. This is so pictures that have meaning only to members of the Company (and sometimes a little embarrassing) are kept private. I hope you will find useful information on all of the pages

The emphasis of our site is on stimulating interest in our period. We hope you will find this website interesting. Because the information is so frequently updated please check out this site later. If you are writing a history project about our period, you will find many resources already on the history pages, including civil war battles, but there are lots more being prepared. Good information is already provided elsewhere on the web so there are hyperlinks to them on the 'Links' page. For this reason we will only be providing information on the less well known civil war battles in the future.

The English Civil War runs from the first civil war battle in 1642 to the death of Charles the first in 1649. There were many events running up to the wars including the Bishop's War, but our regiment was raised specifically in response to the King's call to arms when he raised his standard in Nottingham. We have very strong links with the Queen's Lifeguard and, the Queen being the daughter of the King of France, we have a strong Roman Catholic idiom. This does not mean that all members of the regiment are Roman Catholic but it does mean that we sympathise with the bigotry towards English Roman catholics at the time of the civil war. Many English Civil War battles were fought by Roman Catholics who were fighting for religious tolerance.

By looking through the following pages, you will see why we have an association with the Queen's Life Guard, and will see that we have a lot of fun meeting and re-enacting the English Civil War period. We have keen historians, children and people just wanting to have fun but all this stems from our love of the Great English Civil War when the kingdom was split, even within families, into warring factions. The Molyneux family however were wholly royalist and suffered considerably for this commitment.
